Geosynthetic clay liner is usually composed of two layers of geotextile sandwiching a layer of bentonite. Has the following significant characteristics:

Self healing ability: When GCL is locally damaged, bentonite will expand in contact with water, fill and repair gaps on its own, and maintain its anti-seepage performance.
